The most magical time of the year is here as Oxford Street is abuzz with its famous light display, festive windows and general Christmas cheer. And to make it even more special, Oxford Street’s diverse collection of shops, restaurants and leisure brands are once again coming together to bring you exclusive offers and merry experiences over not one, but three Magic Days.
So when does all the festive fun begin? The Magic Days will take place over three Saturdays: December 2, December 9 and December 16. From afternoon teas and visits from Santa to stilt performers and steel drum bands, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
And to give a little magic this year, you can sponsor a star for just £10, which will make a sick child’s Christmas a lot brighter. Oxford Street has teamed up with charity Starlight, which helps make children’s stays in hospital less traumatic through the power of play.
Soak up the festive atmosphere
To bring back Magic Days with a bang, performers will be roaming the high street, starting from Tottenham Court Station. Soaring sky high, the glitter belles will ring in the first Magic Day while a steel drum band will amplify the Christmas cheer across all three (2, 9 and 16 December). Don’t miss the nutcrackers on stilts (2 & 9 December) followed by clockwork ballerinas who will dance their way through the final Magic Day on 16 December.
If that’s not exciting enough, Hanover Square has been transformed into an elliptical ice rink, providing the perfect setting for a family day out or fun activity with friends. Even if you don’t skate, you can still grab a hot drink from the central bar and watch the skaters whizz by. The ice rink will be open across all three Magic Days and you can book tickets here.
Discover in-store experiences and sparkling surprises
What’s a Magic Day on Oxford Street without meeting Santa? Find him inside Selfridges (2, 9 and 16 December) or book a visit to the interactive grotto at John Lewis (2, 9 and 16 December) where kids can have a photo with the man of the moment and take home a special gift. If you have a pet, you can sign up for the Santa Paws experience (2, 9 and 16 December) where your four legged-friend can be included in the fun too.
For sparkling surprises, visit Swarovski for live music, hot chocolate, live biscuit personalisation and more (2 and 9 December). Step into Under Armour for some fabulous gifting ideas followed by River Island‘s pop-up showcasing local products from incredible small businesses (9 December). And if a spa day is your ultimate kind of magic day, why not book a 30 minute self-led bathing experience at Lush (2, 9 and 16 December)?
Feast on Christmas menus and cocktails
After a spot of shopping, it’s time to treat yourself to all the trimmings on Oxford Street. For a Christmassy spin on a classic, book a festive afternoon tea at Bond Street Tea Rooms (2, 9 and 16 December from 1pm – 5pm) and indulge in cicchetti, finger sandwiches, scones, and Italian-inspired patisseries. Foodie haven Market Halls is pulling out all the stops with yorkshire pudding at Sexy Buns, a Turkey Shawarma at Le Bab and Xmas Poutine at 20ft Chicken with live bands keeping the beats going while you eat (2, 9 and 16 December).
Enjoy dinner and a show at The Kit Kat Club at Selfridges where the award-winning cabaret show takes residency in The Lounge on the fourth floor with performances from the Prologue dancers, a Champagne and cocktail menu from Moet and small plates. Reservations are now live and your can book tickets here. For festive menus with a side of crazy golf or shuffleboard, make tracks to Boom Battle Bar (2, 9 and 16 December).
