Christmas is a magical time of year and what better place to get into the spirit than the West End and Oxford Street! With Christmas lights, festive experiences, treats and of course, shopping – Oxford Street offers it all this Christmastime. We’ve plotted the perfect itinerary for you below…
10am
Get off the underground at Tottenham Court Road station and discover the Christmas installations on the big screens at Outernet. From a warming fireplace scene and Christmas themed emoji shower to classic Christmas tunes encouraging everyone to dance – kickstart your day with a dose of festive energy. Needing some coffee? Head to Krispy Kreme for a coffee and freshly baked Original Glazed doughnut, or stick with the festive theme and choose The Grinch doughnuts – we love the Santa Belly, with custard and dark chocolate icing.
Continue walking down the street stopping along the way to shop and treat yourself or tick people off your list. Don’t miss the newly opened Future Stores, a new concept that welcomes brands to activate and connect with customers. LØCI are currently showcasing their sustainable trainers – perfect for the fashionistas on your list!
Head to Reserved East and explore gifts for her with our guide, including the best accessories and cosy jumpers. A short hop away you’ll find Rituals, home to beautifully scented body and home products. Pick up some of their famous foaming shower gels as a treat for yourself!
Further down the street you’ll find Flannels, home to luxury fashion. Browse the latest collections from the likes of MCM, Jimmy Choo, YSL and more – perfect for picking up a party outfit for New Year’s Eve. Don’t miss their interactive art space downstairs, W1Curates. Showing a Christmassy wonderland, Laplandia and is great to keep the kids entertained! If you still have energy before stopping for lunch, don’t miss Gap to discover their gifting pieces now in store. JD Sports is the place to go for all of your trainer needs. And for a fun experience, swing by the IKEA Hus of FRAKTA pop-up to get an iconic IKEA bag personalised – perfectly sized to put all of your shopping into or gift it as a fun stocking filler.
12pm
After exploring Oxford Street East, cross Oxford Circus and make your way to the 6th floor of John Lewis and step into a winter oasis at 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen. With heated festive igloos and a sharing feast of including Morcilla pigs in blankets; Butternut squash and truffle risotto; Braised beef cheek, creamy polenta, and carrot crisp; and Chocolate and olive oil mousse with cherry compote, you’ll be sure to have a delicious and merry meal. Don’t forget to warm up with their Mulled Wine and hot chocolate for the kids.
Once you’ve eaten, make your way down into John Lewis and browse the Christmas shop on floor 3 for cute decorations. Floor 4 has all of the toys for kids, and be sure to explore the newly refurbished Beauty Hall including new brands and a dedicated fragrance space, ideal for treating yourself or picking up beauty presents from our gift guide.
Step back out onto Oxford Street and continue your festive day. Shop party shoes and bags at Kurt Geiger, experience the magic of Disney at the flagship Disney Store, and stop for a festive treat at the The BoTree hotel and tuck into their famous 20 layer cake that has been given a touch of festive magic.
4pm
With the winter nights, the street comes alive at 4pm. Experience the magical ‘Sky Full of Stars’ Christmas lights twinkling above Oxford Street as you continue to wander down the road.
Marvel at the Christmas window displays outside Selfridges and step in store to see Santa roaming around the store, as well as famous confetti cannons that see Santa and his elves perform alongside the King’s Voices Choir at 6pm – this is one not to miss! Just a little further up the road you’ll find Moco Museum, a modern art museum with world famous artists such as Jeff Koons, Banksy and Keith Haring on display. A wholesome activity to wrap up the day before going to dinner.
7pm
Jump on the bus and head back down Oxford Street – grab the front seats and see the Christmas stars whizz past you for a truly enchanting festive experience. Get off at Great Titchfield Street and make your way to the Sanderson hotel’s Winter Terrace. Sip on seasonal cocktails paired with a cheese board – what could be more festive?
