Women’s talk series at the London EDITION

22 August 2024

A series of in-person talks hosted at the BASEMENT in the London EDITION are running across September, October and November. From the founder of lastminute.com to neuroscientist Dr Tara Stewart, the “Women Who Made Me” series celebrates the mentors and role models that have inspired the guests both in their professional and personal lives.

A great event to connect with like-minded people, ticket options include dinner as part of the Women Who Made Me Supper Club, hosted in the Berners Tavern private dining room. Dine on a set two-course menu, served family style, alongside your drink of choice – 50% of ticket sales (£20 for general admission, £60 for the supper club option) will be donated to the charity Women for Women who aid women around the world affected by war.

The sequence of talks kicks off on the 3rd September with Aindrea Emelife, a Nigerian-British curator and art historian specialising in modern and contemporary art, with a focus on questions around colonial and decolonial histories in Africa, transnationalism and the politics of representation. Join her as she shares stories about the incredible women who have influenced her life from female icons in culture, politics and more.

On the 29th October, join Martha Lane Fox, the co-founder of lastminute.com and advocate for increasing digital skills across the UK, as she shares stories of her impressive professional career. Requiring significant amounts of resilience, Martha Lane Fox survived the dot com crash as well as a car crash in Morocco, a woman with lots of insight – this is one not to miss.

Finally, on Tuesday 12th November, Dr Tara Stewart chats about her work as a neuroscientist, advisor and author. A highly engaging speaker, Dr Tara Stewart will share her learnings and key pieces of advice for achieving mental resilience and peak brain performance, as well as improving the ability to manage stress, regulate emotion and retain information.

Book your tickets at eventbrite for Tuesday 3rd September, Tuesday 29th October and Tuesday 12th November.
