Head to Cavendish Square this summer for a taste of the Edinburgh Fringe in central London. Open from 4 July – 21 September, Underbelly is a cultural pop-up festival with a difference. Don’t miss world-class live entertainment, including the best circus, cabaret and comedy featuring the hit show brought to you by The Hairy Godmothers “Dizney in Drag: Once Upon a Parody”. More than just entertainment
Alongside the amazing shows, the square is free to enter and has been transformed into a mini festival with deck chairs and picnic benches providing space to soak up the sun and atmosphere.
Settle into a spot and have a bite to eat from the many delicious street-food vendors including the award winning ‘Seawise’, offering the best fish & chips in London and other seafood delights. Meateaters will love ‘Smoketeers’ which offers smoked and grilled meats alongside the fluffiest chips and fresh salad. Don’t forget to grab a drink too at one of the open-air bars including the Spritz bar offering signature cocktails.
Get a glimpse into the shows
Kicking things off between 4th and 14th July is ‘Disney in Drag: Once Upon a Parody’ – prepare to have your childhood dreams shattered as you discover the other sides to familiar characters. From The Hairy Godmothers, this show is one not to be missed! A fan of circus shows? Catch ‘Tweedy’s Massive Circus’ between 18th and 27th July and ‘YUCK Circus’ between 28th August – 8th Septmeber – both shows offer magic, high-flying acrobatics, groovy dancing and so much more.
Keep the kids busy this summer with a range of activities. ‘Mr Sleepybum’ is an interactive and kids’ centric comedy show in which silly dreams are enacted – there are no limits to the imagination in this show running on the 6th and 7th July. Or join Rachel and Ruby for an hour of sketches, songs, pranks and silliness in ‘Shelf: The Kid’s Show’ on 21st September.
